Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using My Community Harvest. By using our service, you agree to these terms.
Quick Navigation
1. What Is My Community Harvest
My Community Harvest is a platform that facilitates collaborative savings among groups of people who know and trust each other. Our service provides tools for:
- Creating and managing savings groups
- Setting up shared savings goals ("pots")
- Scheduling and tracking contributions
- Coordinating rotating payouts among group members
We are a technology platform, not a bank or financial institution. We do not hold your funds, provide loans, or guarantee any financial outcomes. We simply provide the tools to help you organize savings with people you trust.
2. Your Responsibilities
By using My Community Harvest, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information: All account and identity information you provide must be truthful and current.
- Honor your commitments: When you join a pot and agree to a contribution schedule, you are making a commitment to the other members of that pot.
- Make contributions on time: You are responsible for ensuring your scheduled contributions are made as agreed.
- Maintain sufficient funds: Ensure your linked payment method has sufficient funds for scheduled contributions.
- Communicate with your group: If you encounter difficulties, communicate with your group members promptly.
3. Important Risk Warning
You assume all risk when participating in savings groups on our platform.
⚠️ Only Save With People You Know and Trust
My Community Harvest is designed for groups of people who already know and trust each other—family members, close friends, coworkers, or established community members. Do not join pots or groups with strangers or people you do not personally know.
⚠️ You Are Liable to Your Group
When you join a pot and agree to a contribution schedule, you are making a commitment to real people. If you default on your contributions (fail to pay as agreed), you are breaking your commitment to your group members who are counting on you. This may result in:
- Other members not receiving their expected payouts
- Damage to your relationships and reputation
- Removal from the group and platform
- Potential legal liability to other group members
⚠️ We Cannot Guarantee Payouts
My Community Harvest provides the platform and tools, but we cannot guarantee that other members will make their contributions or that you will receive payouts. The success of any savings group depends entirely on the reliability and trustworthiness of its members.
⚠️ Funds Are Not Deposits and Are Not Insured
My Community Harvest is not a bank, credit union, or regulated financial institution. Funds contributed to pots are not bank deposits and are not insured or protected by any government deposit protection scheme, including the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in the United States, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) in the United Kingdom, or any equivalent scheme in the European Union or elsewhere. In the unlikely event of platform failure, your funds may not be recoverable.
By using this service, you acknowledge that you understand these risks and accept full responsibility for your participation in any savings groups.
4. Payment Processing
All payment processing on My Community Harvest is handled by Stripe, Inc., a third-party payment processor. When you add a payment method or receive payouts, you are also agreeing to Stripe's terms of service.
- We do not store your full payment card details—this information is securely handled by Stripe.
- Payouts are processed through Stripe Connect and are subject to Stripe's identity verification requirements.
- Transaction fees may apply to contributions and payouts as disclosed at the time of transaction.
For more information, see Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
5. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use My Community Harvest to:
- Commit fraud or deceive other users
- Launder money or engage in illegal financial activity
- Create fake accounts or misrepresent your identity
- Join groups with the intent of defaulting on contributions
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
6. Limitation of Liability
My Community Harvest provides this platform "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any losses resulting from other users failing to make contributions or honor their commitments.
- We are not liable for disputes between group members.
- We are not liable for any financial losses you may incur through use of this platform.
- Our total liability to you for any claims is limited to the amount of fees you have paid to us in the past 12 months.
7. Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Engage in fraudulent activity
- Repeatedly default on contribution commitments
- Receive multiple complaints from other users
You may also close your account at any time, but you remain responsible for any outstanding commitments to active pots you have joined.
Platform Right to Pause or Dissolve a Pot
We reserve the right to pause, suspend, or dissolve any pot or savings group at our sole discretion, including but not limited to circumstances where:
- A member has defaulted on contributions and the pot can no longer proceed as intended
- We detect or reasonably suspect fraudulent activity, money laundering, or other illegal conduct
- A pot has been inactive or contributions are significantly overdue
- We are required to do so by applicable law, regulation, or a lawful government or regulatory order
In the event of pot dissolution, we will make reasonable efforts to return any unallocated funds held in the pot to contributing members, subject to Stripe's processing timelines and applicable law. We are not liable for any losses arising from a legitimate pot suspension or dissolution.
8. Rotating Savings Structure (ROSCA)
My Community Harvest operates as a Rotating Savings and Credit Association (ROSCA). By joining a rotating pot, you agree to the following specific terms:
🔄 Rotating Payout Order
In a rotating pot, each member receives the pooled contributions exactly once over the course of the pot cycle. The payout order is determined at the time the pot is created or when you join, and your position in the rotation is not guaranteed to be first or early. You may be assigned any position in the cycle, including the last position.
📅 No Guaranteed Payout Date
Your payout date is determined by your position in the rotation and the contribution cycle length agreed upon when the pot was created. We cannot guarantee the exact date you will receive your payout. Delays may occur if other members fail to contribute on time, if payment processing takes longer than expected, or if the pot is paused or suspended. You must not rely on a specific payout date for financial planning purposes.
⚠️ Consequences of Member Default in a Rotating Pot
If any member fails to make their required contribution in a rotating pot:
- The scheduled payout for that cycle may be delayed or reduced
- Members who have already received their payout but subsequently default remain liable to the remaining members for all unpaid contributions
- The defaulting member may be removed from the pot and platform and reported to Stripe for account review
- The pot may be paused or dissolved at our discretion if the default cannot be resolved
- We accept no liability for losses suffered by other members as a result of a member default
💰 Contribution Obligation After Early Payout
If you receive your payout before all other members in your rotation have received theirs, you remain legally and morally obligated to continue making your scheduled contributions for the remainder of the pot cycle. Failing to contribute after receiving your payout constitutes a breach of these Terms and may expose you to legal liability to the other members of your group.
By joining any rotating pot on My Community Harvest, you confirm that you have read and understood the ROSCA structure described in this section and accept all associated risks and obligations.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on our platform. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
